Actually old news. Posted predicted mean vote calculator for personal computers. No installation needed. Good for Windows 98 and up. This software is dated 1999. It didn't lose it's actuality in the recent 12 years and probably will not in the next 12.

Predicted mean vote is defined in the ISO standard as the objective measure of thermal comfort.

This website enjoys now new hosting at google and a different approach to manage information flows.  Here is a generational story about marriage of data and technology.

static age: 1999-2004
host operation year TTL
 geocities.com  1999-2000  ~1 year
 yahoo (geocities)  2000-2009  9 years

dynamic age: 2004-to date
 host  costs operation year  TTL  defect  highlight
 DST-electronics  semi-paid  2004-2005  =1,5 year
customer service model
cheap bundle DNS+host
 111mb.com  free  2005-2006  ~1 year
 freephpwebhosting.net  free  2007  <1 year
file size cap
 freeweb7.com  free  2008  ~1 year
file size cap, lagging
PHP, larger size cap
 freehost10.com  free  2009  <1 year  file size cap
identical to freeweb7 in all PHP setups
 freebeehosting.com  free  2010  >1 year
died overhight. data lost.
excellent small site PHP host
 sites.google.com  free  2011-  ? no PHP scripts, limited template customization,
lacking interactive elements, inconsistent widget presentation
response time, integration with office, widgets

The trade-offs of the recent move are huge.

On the downside it is 1. back-falling to semi-static site management. The list of native control elements is very limited. AFAIK, there hasn't been much changed since 2006 (the time Google acquired company that came up with the idea of template site management). 2. There is no easy way to tweak site appearance. As a result the design is somewhat broken even after applying dirty hacks. The native template adjustment feature is less than adequate. 3. There is no facility to manage multiple languages. I will miss this feature of Contrexx CMS. 4. There are no robust native blog features, no seamless integration with Google-native Blogger, in particular with the user commenting service.

On the upside it is 1. integration with online office, photo sharing services, etc. In one word it is service layering approach. Developers create widgets that can be added to the mix from central repository like from a Market feature on cell phones. The widgets stitch different internet services (see photo gallery on the site for example). 2. Hopefully the service will be robust? At least statistically, I expect performance comparable with yahoo, i.e. another 6 years until the service is closed or merged into something else. 3. Upgradeabliity.  The fall down of web hosting sites with a one-year regularity was a bad thing. But break down of customized PHP code after each upgrade of CMS system was even worse. I hope this time I'll save a lot of time on upgrades and can deliver you more of my great content.

The financial crisis 101 - put simple series (a presentation by Konstantyn) is awarded second place in the annual Slideshare contest. It has gained significant recognition and response. The presentation has been also awarded previosly as a "slideshow of the day".

The recognition rewards crossing of the skillfully filtered out essential information, ultimate presentation paradigm and constructive spirit. Contact me if you are interested to know more and how-to.

As of today the presentation has been viewed by more than 4 tousend visitors. I know, it has been used in schools and clubs as discussion basis. A dirty trick tracking real use of the presentation = incorporation of a couple of grammatical mistakes. Then people download the presentation before demo for correction.

See the presentation on slideshare.net (the easier) and in the documents section of the site (the better).

([A-Za-z0-9 ,:.;!?()[]''^+^=]{2,}) --> ([а-яА-Я0-9(),.:;?! ^+^=^s]{})

Do you have a PPC? Are you interested in Russian and don't know what does the sentence ([A-Za-z0-9 .,:;!?''^+^=]{2,}) mean? Than you might have better to read this message.

A pocket dictionary is one out of the few tasks that can be the most efficiently done by a PPC. Four books are in your palm, colorful, with dynamic search, and all the pleasure for free. Haven''t you dreamed about this?

China comrades have enabled the dream. www.octopus-studio.com proposes a simple to have and use freeware program MDict for PC and PPC. The program is teamed by  a transcoder  that  lets free available GPL licensed dictionaries get ready to use. There are plenty of GPL dictionaries and encyclopedias. Most of them are for the desktop applications. But unfortunately the trans-coder itself does not really help. The articles are displayed in corrupted format, in stream-characters, not truly readable way. The problem ought to be solved by the individual format algorithms for every and each dictionary. The process can take several days and requires extensive wild cards word processing knowledge.

A correct formated for MDIct New Comprehensive English-Russian Dictionary, authors: Apresyan and Mednikova, 110.000 words is here. The attachment can be downloaded

The academic expression ([A-Za-z0-9 ,:.;!?()[]''^+^=]{2,}) --> ([а-яА-Я0-9(),.:;?! ^+^=^s]{}) means in Microsoft Word wildcard language "translate all lexical units from latin to cyrillic alphabet representation." The expression symbolizes English - Russian babelfishing.
